England skipper Harry Kane was largely anonymous as his team played out a disappointing goalless draw in the home nations clash with Scotland in Group D pf the ongoing Euro 2020 tournament. Tottenham Hotspur star Kane has not had the best of times at the start of Euro 2020 and that continued against Steve Clarke and his men on Friday.

Kane launched a new bespoke golden football boots when he stormed the England camp at the end of last month and he has not been able to find the back of the nets with the new football boots. The Spurs man won the football boots in the opening game against reigning FIFA World Cup finalists Croatia and he didn’t do much throughout the game.

Spurs talisman Kane even missed an open goal in the second half of the Croatia game at the Wembley Stadium though he had opposition from one of the opponents. He missed out on the opportunity to give the Three Lions a cushion second goal after Manchester City player Raheem Sterling had opened the England account in the second half with his goal. The strike from Sterling was enough to give the Three Lions a 1-0 win over the Croatians.

England were not at their fluent best against the Croatians but did just enough to win the game only for the team to deliver a worse performance in the game against Scotland. England didn’t live up to their tag as one of the favourites to win the tournament and Scotland were good value for the point earned.

For Scotland, it was a good way to bounce back after the home defeat to Czech Republic on Monday. Patrick Schick was a thorn in the flesh of the Scottish team as he scored twice to lead the Czechs to an impressive 2-0 win. Scotland will need to beat Croatia in their last group match if they want to seal a place in the knockout stage.
